Rob Macey

I’m Robert Macey, an Emmy Award-winning Director of Photography with over three decades of experience capturing powerful visual stories. From the chaos of breaking news to the artistry of cinematic docu-series, I’ve had the privilege of working across a wide range of genres, always with heart and purpose behind the lens. My work has taken me across the globe and onto the sets of networks like CBS, NBC, ABC, HGTV, Discovery, and Food Network—filming everything from Dateline NBC and 48 Hours to Unsellable Houses and Forensic Files. I bring a grounded, documentary sensibility to even the most stylized shoots, combining instinctive storytelling with expert lighting, framing, and camera movement. I’m also an FAA-licensed drone pilot with 2,000+ flight hours, and a trusted leader on set—mentoring crews, collaborating closely with producers and talent, and always staying calm under pressure. Whether it’s a single-camera interview or a fast-paced, multi-camera production, I’m all in—committed to capturing the moments that matter.

Filmmaking has been a part of me for as long as I can remember. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working alongside hundreds of celebrities, directors and producers. And, what I love most is capturing honest, heartfelt moments—the kind that happen in a blink, but live forever on film. I shoot from the heart, because that’s where the real gold is.

My wife Karlyna and I have been happily married for 26 years and we’re proud parents to two mostly-amazing boys :) I was Southern California raised in Fountain Valley, where we still live to this day. My wife and I are deeply rooted in our community, actively serving through organizations like Operation Christmas Child and our local church.
